What is Tempo?
In musical terminology, tempo is the speed or pace of a given piece. It's a crucial element of music composition and performance, as it dictates the mood and feeling of the music. Tempo is typically measured in **Beats Per Minute (BPM)**.
A piece with a high BPM (like 160) feels fast, energetic, and exciting, common in genres like techno or drum and bass. A low BPM (like 60) creates a slow, calm, or somber mood, often found in ballads or ambient music. Understanding and controlling tempo is fundamental for any musician, composer, or producer.
